Frequently Asked Questions

What age range does this class cover?

Infant and Child CPR provides training on CPR technique for children from birth through 8 years old.

Will I receive a certification card?

You will receive a two-year certification card from the American Heart Association.

I can't decide whether to take Babysafe or Infant and Child CPR. What is the difference?

Babysafe is a broad safety course. The first part of the Babysafe class will cover safety issues and injury prevention for each developmental phase of your child, in three-month increments.

The second part of the class will go over major safety concerns, such as motor vehicle safety, fire safety and water safety.

The final part of the class will provide a brief demonstration and practice of infant CPR and choking rescue. Babysafe is not a CPR certification course.

Infant and Child CPR focuses solely on presenting and practicing infant and child CPR techniques and how to deal with an obstructed airway from birth to age 8. This class provides a two-year certification card from the American Heart Association.

Both classes are valuable to new families and determining which class to attend varies by family. If a family is uncertain which class to attend, we recommend taking Babysafe. Then, if the family desires additional CPR training, they can complete the Infant and Child CPR Class.

Can I bring my baby to the class?

No. Unfortunately, because this is a certification course, we require students to do a lot of hands-on practice, which would not be possible with babies and small children.

I need to get recertified. Do you offer a different class for recertification?

This class will serve for your recertification, and you will be issued a new certification card good for two years from the class date.

Does the class fee cover one or two people?

The fee covers only one person. Since this is a certification course, each person must register separately. To receive certification, parents must register separately as well.

Do Children’s employees receive a discount on this class?

No. Unfortunately, Children’s employees do not receive a discount for the Infant and Child CPR class.
